... Who Traveled the World Seeking What Was Inside All the Time
I grew up in Silicon Valley to a single mom struggling with three kids and I left an abusive home at 16 to find my way in the world. I've always had a 'wild heart' and felt that my true home was in nature, communicating with animals.
In my youth, my identity was shaped by being told that I was smart. So I pursued three university degrees, in part because I thought education was important and also that I enjoyed research and being outdoors (hence I became an ecologist).
After becoming a PhD scientist in my late 30s, I felt an intuitive pull to leave America and go to Australia to be with my fiance at that time. My life seemed idyllic - we bought a beautiful home by the ocean after I took a job as an environmental sciences professor at the regional university. Yet, after a couple of years, I began to feel less fulfilled rather than more..
While in the land of Oz (Australia) for 17 years, I met my spiritual teacher, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, who was a Dzogchen master from Tibet. Although I had practiced meditation since learning it when I was only 11, I had wanted to connect with a deeper spiritual pathway.
Several years later my life begn to dramatically change and my identity began to dissolve in what is called 'depression'.
My personality prior to the dissolving was too afraid to live fully as my authentic being as I had mistakenly thought that ‘becoming someone’ was necessary for success, but now I know that was just a cultural program to make up for my own lack of a strong spiritual foundation.
Once I began to tap into that spiritual foundation through taking time in my life to simply 'be' while continuing my spiritual studies with my teacher, my feet began to follow the less-worn path of ‘an authentic and mystic life.’
Along the way to living my authentic life, I published a book 'Be Authentic' and also became an entrepreneur around 2011 after leaving my science and academic career.
Around that time, I began experiencing my first of several deep spiritual insights that showed me the nature of my being was vast, open and deeply loving.
While in Australia, I started a business and leadership coaching business. About 5 years later I was intuitively 'called' to work in the online education industry. I learned about marketing while working for Mindvalley and The Shift Network (I still do work with them as a contractor) and also a regional Buddhist Center here in Colorado.
I've been fascinated by Feng Shui for over 15 years, and finally became a certified Feng Shui Consultant in the Black Sect School in 2024.
Through integrating past and recent spiritual experiences, I am becoming less of 'someone seeking' and more of a spiritual being who feels the Divine life force within. The ‘I’ is no longer so driven by the fearful grip of the ego but is relaxed about expressing itself as a compassionate and creative being, which is our inheritance.
