Does Your Business Have a Soul?

If your business is a living entity with a form, then does it also have an essence?
All living things have an essence – that which animates it from within. The name of this essence varies across cultures and belief systems and we could call it the ‘consciousness’ or the ‘soul’.
I prefer to use the term ‘soul’ as I feel that our business has a unique essence that flows through us, as the business owner, to create it’s form in the world. We can view the term ‘soul’ from a physics perspective – meaning the energy that creates a form into the world. As we know, when we focus our own energy – mentally and emotionally - that creates a certain ‘focal’ point for more energy to gather and to create as ‘matter’.
So when we get an ‘idea’ for a business, we could say that it is energy being born and as we allow ourselves to incubate that idea and grow it, then the energy’s essence begins to take a form.
Why would we want to talk about the ‘soul’ of a business? Perhaps our business soul has its own intelligence – an aspect of universal consciousness that is alive and intelligent - that we can converse with in order to understand what it needs from us and how it would like to expand and evolve.
Using this approach, we don’t have to ‘overthink’ our business strategy, but rather can approach our business by asking questions and allowing answers to come intuitively. Therefore, strategy becomes informed and takes ‘form’ through the essence of our intuitive questioning.
Personally, I use daily meditation to ask questions of my business’s soul and also to send it -and all of my clients and collaborators - a feeling of love and gratitude. This is complementary to my development and use of strategy, planning and processes. Combined, I apply intuitive strategy to ask specific questions, listen and act from the soul of my business. In what way do you, or could you, communicate with the soul of your business?
